"From the old Boosey and Hawkes Rental Department in New York. Undated, this is a mimeographed copy of an original hand-typed manuscript bound in a loose-leafed folder. Running to 64 pages, printed on one-side only. Translated into English from the original German. There are some hand-annotations and crossing's out, cleary done before the piece was copied. In overall very good condition, the piece has been stored for some time and appears unused - the covers are a little creased. B&H stickers to cover and title page - B&H catalogue number SM186. Alice Mathias is the daughter of Oscar Hammerstein II and a noted lyricist in her own right. She was associated with conductor Thomas Scherman and his Little Orchestra Society, for whom she translated lyrics for the American premiere of Richard Strauss' INTERMEZZO in 1962 (performed at the Lincoln Centre). This piece would appear to be contemporary with that performance and is the complete 2 Act Libretto for Intermezzo, including a number of performance notes. "
