New Edition in three matching hardback volumes, 1858 (volume III) and 1859 (volumes I and II), with no jackets as published. In overall good to very good used condition with only minor signs of handling and storage - marbelled boards quarter-bound in red leather, with 5 raised bands and gilt titles on black labels and gilt decorations to spine, are rubbed to edges with slight wear to corners and a few minor marks. Internally clean. Bindings tight and appear little read, no annotations or inscriptions - private book-plate (Stephen Wright) to front paste-down of each volume plus tiny bookseller's label (Blackwell of Oxford); marbelled page-ends slightly darkened to top edge and light tanning to prelims but marbelled end-papers and text bright and clear throughout. Volume I frontispiece portrait of Isaac Disraeli, aged 11, Volume II retains tipped-in facsimile of Mr Pope's Manuscript Homer, and Volume III frontispiece portrait of Isaac Disraeli as an older man. This set weighs over 1.6 kg. Not old library books. Photographs available.
