"Two volume matching hardback set - a record of the Norwegian Polar Expedition 1893-1896, published by George Newnes 1898, with plain buckram-covered boards and no jackets. In overall good-to-very good used condition with only minor signs of age, handling and storage - black boards, with gilt titles to spines, are slightly rubbed and corners gently rounded with a couple of minor scratches to the rear board of Volume Two. Internally clean. Bindings tight and appear little read, no annotations or inscriptions - name in pencil to ffep in both volumes; slight tanning to end-papers but red-stippled page-ends, text and illustrations bright and clear throughout. Retains fold-out map (slightly creased and repaired) to rear of Volume One, with Index to the rear of Volume Two. This set weighs over 2.5kg. Photographs available."
